Wu Qian was born in Shanghai in 1984 and began her training at the Shanghai Conservatoire of Music. Hearing her perform at the age of eleven Professor Malcolm Troup secured a scholarship for her at the Menuhin School.
Winning the Sydney Perry Award from the Martin Musical Foundation, she performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra in St John’s, Smith Square in 2000, and the same year won the Tunbridge Wells International Young Artists Competition.
2005 saw a second successful Wigmore Hall solo recital and several festival engagements in the UK and abroad.
