N.C.A.

The National Council for Aviculture represents the interest of all bird keepers at local, national and European levels. Locally we are in contact with environmental Health Officers and Trading Standards Officers, both of whom have responsibility for matters that can and do affect bird keeping.
We regularly meet with and make representation to the British Government through DEFRA (MAFF, DETR) and the Home Office. These departments have responsibility for all licensing, animal welfare and even pet shops and it is imperative that your voice is heard and your interests represented. We also correspond regularly with various EU Parliament and Commission sources who are often instrumental in forming laws which will affect your hobby.
We now also sit on a Contact Group of "PAW" (Partnership for Action Against Wildlife Crime).

The NCA is at present in consultation with DEFRA on the "ANIMAL WELFARE BILL" (England & Wales) also the "ANIMAL WELFARE BILL" (Scotland) CITES Charges and Bird Registration. Avian Flu.

Individual Memberships to the N.C.A. are £7.00
Club and Society Affiliations are £15.00
The NCA also has Life Membership which is £50.00
All Individual Memberships and Affiliations to the N.C.A. are due as from the 1st January each year.
Memberships should be now sent to:
Mr David Paine
15 Hawthorn Avenue
Gainsborough
Lincs.
DN21 1HD
Email address david@paine3176.freeserve.co.uk

There is a Junior membership which is a FREE membership, provided they re-register each year (January) as other members. Aged from 8 years to 16 years of age. Ends when reaching 17th Birthday. All that is required is the name, address, and date of birth.

The NCA has an Insurance scheme for Societies which covers for Public Liability, Trophies for Fire and Theft, Staging for Fire and Theft, and cover for Birds while at shows.
It now has a special insurance for members for loss of birds.

The NCA IS the voice of aviculture and takes care of all those matters which affect your hobby.
The NCA ensures that you CAN still enjoy your hobby, as we take care of all the mundane bits,by monitoring any new problems BEFORE they get into law.
We take up your worries about Cage sizes,Transporting birds, Imports., Club rules and all the hundred and one things that affect aviculture. Members can telephone the NCA and get an answer to any birdkeeping problems that they may have.
We can tell you which birds you can import, advise on quarantine, law etc.
The NCA has a panel of qualified experts-all bird keepers- from whom we can get
scientific and legal advice. Never before has a NCA membership offered YOU so much.

We need the support of every aviculturist and society in the UK if we are to protect you.
