N.C.A.
The National Council for Aviculture represents the interest of all bird keepers at local, national and European levels. Locally we are in contact with environmental Health Officers and Trading Standards Officers, both of whom have responsibility for matters that can and do affect bird keeping.
We regularly meet with and make representation to the British Government through DEFRA (MAFF, DETR) and the Home Office. These departments have responsibility for all licensing, animal welfare and even pet shops and it is imperative that your voice is heard and your interests represented. We also correspond regularly with various EU Parliament and Commission sources who are often instrumental in forming laws which will affect your hobby.
We now also sit on a Contact Group of "PAW" (Partnership for Action Against Wildlife Crime).
The NCA is at present in consultation with DEFRA on the "ANIMAL WELFARE BILL" (England & Wales) also the "ANIMAL WELFARE BILL" (Scotland) CITES Charges and Bird Registration. Avian Flu.
