Joseph & Margaret E. Dixon & Family of Ravenstonedale
Joseph Dixon born 1855 of Baldersdale, Cotherstone, Barnard Castle, married Margaret Eleanor Metcalfe of Scar Sykes, Ravenstonedale, on 12 December 1875 at Kirkby Stephen. They first farmed at Cuckoo Farm, Cotherstone, Barnard Castle, and reared most of their 10 offspring there, before moving to Crooksbeck Farm, Ravenstonedale, Westmorland in about 1892. They retired to a bunglow on Scargill Farm, Scargill, Barnard Castle in 1929 , before moving to Coldbeck in Ravenstonedale. They celebrated their Diamond wedding anniversary in 1935, before Joseph died in 1937 and Margaret died in 1943. |
