Derwentside U3A

The University of The Third Age is an international organisation which enables members to share many Educational, Creative and Leisure activities. Members are over 50's no longer in full time gainful employment. The Derwentside Branch meets on the last Friday of each month in the Lamplight Arts Centre, Stanley from 10am to 12md. We have a speaker at meetings and topics/presentations are varied. Admission is £1.00 & includes tea/coffee and biscuits. Annual Membership is £10.00 and includes membership of The Third Age Trust Several Groups operate within the local organisation. Canasta, Cinema & Theatre, Computers for the "Too Olds!", Crafts, Creative Writing, German, Mahjongg, Play Reading, Quilting, Scrabble, Short Walks and Sunday Lunch. A "Pudding Club" has recently been formed. The plan is to have only Starter & Desert when we eat out! Members organise their own activities and meeting places vary from members homes to church halls & Community Centres.
