An Excellent Choice

On my travels around the north of England I visited the Armouries at Leeds. I was at University in the city in the dim and distant past and how things have changed since the early 70's. After you have visited the Armouries and there is plenty of parking close by can I suggest you have lunch in the Aire Bar?
You will find the Aire bar on the banks of the canal opposite the Armouries. If you want directions you can use the AA route finder or multi-map both which are available on the internet. The Aire Bar post code is LS2 7EW.
At first glance the Aire Bar looks like anyother riverside pub with its widescreen tv with Sky, pool table which is very popular with the students but sit on the balcony in the West Yorkshire sunshine if a seat is available to enjoy some of the best pub grub in the county.
Aire Bar 32-34 The Calls 0113-2031811
Our last visit was on 12th July after the graduation ceremony. This place just gets better and better.
In discussion with one diner he told me that the Aire Bar don't do fast food its all cooked from order. The food is gathered from a variety of places to ensure its fresh and the best quality. Fish from Whitby, home grown English strawberries, Yorkshire potatoes - the Aire bar management team have spared no expense in bringing diners - the best of pub grub.
VISITED ON 10TH AUGUST.

42 The Calls

On the weekend 14th August Lorna and I decided to visit Leeds again for some retail therapy prior to our holidays on the Mull of Kintyre and Canada. Basically Lorna would have nothing to wear!
We stayed at 42 The Calls which is very handy for the Calls Grill and the Aire Bar which I have previously mentioned.
I have provided a link for 42 The Calls below and if you need to stay overnight in Leeds well this hotel is the bees knees!

Floods

The Aire Bar in common with many businesses in Leeds received some unfavourably attention from the rising flood waters. In June one months rain fell in one day but as you would expect the management at The Aire Bar moved very quickly. They provided customers with Aire Bar umbrellas.
Still a great place, especially for Hartlepool United supporters who will be welcome there on 8th September when Pools play Leeds United.
I am reliably told that H'Angus, Hartlepool United's monkey mascot has been invited to the Aire Bar - for lunch prior to the BIG game.
