Hunt down fine food

There is really no need to hunt down fine food when you find the Hare and Hounds at Garmondsway. Lunch is served everyday Tuesday to Friday 12noon to 2pm, Saturday 12 noon to 2pm and 12 noon to 3pm on Sundays. You may need directions and as I don't have their postcode you should ring 01740 654661 and ask Stuart, Colette or Ann the way to their fine pub.
I have dined at the H & H several times and on each occasion the food has been well presented, good value for money and the staff have been most pleasant. You get the impression nothing is too much trouble.
They have a superb range of starters from Soup of the day served with a crispy roll at £2.50 right through the full gambit to smoked haddock fish cakes with mixed leaf and Cranberry and Wulnut dressing at £4.75. My taste buds are bounding as a write!
There is a wonderful range of Main Course including a vegetarian dishes inclduing a Lentil & Aubergine Puff Pastry tartlet with feta cheese, mint and olive oil. For those who prefer a more meatier option - medallions of fillet beef with roasted garlic and shallots in a red win and thyme jus or Scottish supreme Salmon served with aspargus and cream sauce plus a choice of lamb, chicken, wild musroom lasagne and lots more. You will need more than one visit to work your way through what is an extensive menu.
The Hare and Hounds also do a terrific menu of traditional pub grub including scampi, beef lasagne, roast of the day with Yorkshire Puding and roast potatoes, Freshly battered Cod (I beleive from Hartlepool and Whitby)with mushy peas, gammon steak with eggs or pineapple and a mild balti served with scented rice. The price range is from £6.95 to just £7.25p which is excellent value in anybodys language.
All main courses are served with a choice of seasonal vegetables, potatoes or home made chips. This is not a fast food establishment - all dishes are freshly cooked to order - so relaxe whilst you wait with a glass of your favourite.
A new car park has been recently add to create more parking spaces.
You will enjoy visiting the Hare and Hounds and please feel free to add your comments to my guest book.
I am advised they have a splendid Christmas menu too.
Until we eat again - bon appetite
John (not the Galloping Gourmet)
