Classic Chardonnay

Whilst we may not agree what constitutes a good wine or indeed a fine wine we all enjoy a glass of wine with our lunch, dinner or barbeque.
Here are some of my suggestions. By all means please feel free to comment and add your thoughts to my guest book. I have a simple rule when it comes to wine - if I enjoy a particular wine - I buy it again. Its as simple as that.

Recommended Wine
Vintage Size Alcohol Content Price
00/01 75cl Alc.13% £25.99

Grand Cru Chablis is never going to be cheap, but when it's this price you expect a lot. In my humble opinion, this delivers it big time. Bone dry, wonderfull and crammed with fantastic fresh lemon and apple fruit flavours, this is real class in a glass. A superb partner for a big, sprawling plate of all sorts of shellfish
Style: Classic Chardonnay
Country: France
Region: Burgundy - Chablis
Grape: Chardonnay & Chardonnay blends

Chablis

Recommended Wine
Vintage Size Alcohol Content Price
2003 75cl Alc.12.5% £9.99
Style: Classic Chardonnay
Country: France
Region: Burgundy - Chablis
Grape: Chardonnay & Chardonnay blends
Steely, flinty, crisp, dry and refreshing, there's no mistaking the Chablis taste. But looking for the word `Chablis' on a label is no guarantee of finding a good one. Quite frankly, there's a ton of shoddy Chablis out there and if you take pot luck in the offie, chances are, that's what you'll get. More by luck than good management I have found a cracker. This is one of the best I have tasted in ages, so you can simply crack it open and relax, it won't show you up at dinner parties.

Cavatina Cori

Recommended Wine
Vintage Size Alcohol Content Price
03/04 75cl Alc.11.5% £3.99
Style: Fragrant but Dry Whites
Country: Italy
Region:
Grape: Other white grapes
With a similar taste to Frascati superiore, this soft, fruity and light wine made from the fragrant malvasia grape is a little known gem from central Italy. Made at high altitudes in a town still enclosed by 6th century walls, it almost seems like the locals are determined to keep the secret to their great wine out of the reach of other winemakers. Crisp and slightly dry, this is a great wine to enjoy with soft cheeses, salads and white meat.

and there's more

I will be adding more wines to this page as and when I find one that I like. I will pass on details....as soon as I have finished the bottle.
Please remember to visit my guestbook and leave details of your favourite wines.
Thank you.

Four more Reds for you to try

Castillo Labastida (Spanish Rioja)
is a fine wine to enjoy just sitting in the conservatory or with a variety of meats including lamb, pigeon, and for our veggie friends stuffed peppers and herby roast vegetables. I first tried this with tapas in a little bar in the Canary Islands on that occasion with deep fried squid, salami and chicken wings. 12% volume.

Torre Galasso 2002 (Montepulcian d'Abruzzo)
Very popular in Italian restaurants is is a loud, fruity wine superb with vegetarian lasagne or a rich pepperoni pizza. 13% volume.

South Australian Chardonnay 2003

Another classic Australina Chardonnay, clean, fresh with plenty of tropical aromas and a subtle hint of oak. Serve this one with cremy pasta dishes, white meat or seafood. 13.5% volume
