Authentic Spain on the Marina

Saturday 22nd April will go down in history when I found a little piece of Spain here in Hartlepool. Along with ten colleagues and friends we assembled in vibrant Vibes bar before going to the newest creation from the master of dining Krimo - the Casa del Mar. We had come to Casa del Mar to give Christine Docherty our colleague a send off as she started her new job.
Saturday night and it was busy - the first sign of a good eating place. Then a warm welcome from the owner, who earlier in the day had watched Hartlepool United beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 in what he described as a cup final atmosphere. Mr Krimo knows all about atmosphere and he has re-created in this little corner of the Marina a typical Spanish tapas bar. My colleagues report good wines and the menu - well I think in total we sampled 20 dishes - everything from garlic chicken to a mouthwatering Spanish salad. The meat balls in a super sauce where my favourite, but others report that the minted lamb and spicey sausage were equally as delicious.
Gentle Spanish music playing in the background, the sound of happy diners - oh yes Casa del Mar is another terrific place to visit on Hartlepool Marina.
Krimo has created a hat trick of places to dine on Hartlepool Marina from Portofino to this newest place Casa del Mar and of course the flagship which bears his name Krimos.
First class food, wonderful atmosphere and management and staff that really take a pride in their art.
10/10
