Under new management

I won't even bore you with the old joke about I couldn't eat a whole one etc., but the Raby Arms at Hart Village does welcome well behaved children. There is a children play area and plenty of parking.
My last visit was on 25th April when Lorna and I called in on our way back from Dalton Park. We received an exceptionally warm welcome from the female half of the management couple - an exceptionally warm welcome. She was from north of the border not far from Largs as I recall so it was what you might expect. A very warm Scottish welcome.
Having ordered the bottle of Jacobs Creek we settled back to browse the lunch menu and Today's specials included Prawn Cocktail served with crusty bread and butter at £2.95 but I went straight for the Steak and Kidney Pudding and Lorna opted for the Salmon and Spinach Quiche.
The staff were very pleasant, and when the food arrived - well it was too much for us both. My steak and kidney pudding came with carrots, neeps (turnips for you Sassenach's)peas and lashing of onion gravy and chips, yes real chunky chips.
Lorna's more healthy platter consisted of Salmon and Spinich Quiche, warm new potatoes, sour cream and chives and what they describe as a small salad. Excellent value, well presented.
Our meals cost £5.95 for the steak and kidney and £5.65 for the quiche plus of course £10.45 for the chilled Jacob's Creek.
On a beautiful April day in Hart this was the perfect venue for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed ours.
The Raby Arms, Hart, telephone 01429 274058.
There is an extensive menu to suit all tastes including a Rich Seasonal Soup with a giant Cheddar pastry twist for our Veggie friends, various Ploughmens at £4.95 with a choice of Stilton, Brie, Potted Liver Pate and Extra Cheddar. For those diners who prefer meat well rump steak, fillet steak, Cumberland Sausage and chicken dishes are all included on the menu. If you can't find something to your taste at the Raby Arms in Hart Village - well you won't find it anywhere.
There is a superb choice of desserts from Apple and Blackberry Crumble with a choice of double cream, custard or ice cream, Sticky toffe Pudding or vanilla ice cream for the less adventurous or better still try the Brie, Cheddar and Stilton Platter at £3.45.
All prices include VAT so no nasty 17% surprises at the Raby Arms and they accept Visa, Mastercard and most other plastic friends.
Next time you are in the area pop into The Raby Arms at Hart Village - you will not be disappointed.
Until we eat again - you take care - and bon appetite.

Another visit

Lorna and I visited again on 29th April and here is the up date. Plenty of parking. Usual bottle of Jacob's Creek well chilled whilst we browsed the menu. Just went for the main course. I opted for breaded cod with chips and peas whilst Lorna had the more sophisticated salmon with a superb stilton and garlic sauce. We didn't make dessert.
Hot plates, well presented and delicious food, spotless hinterlands and easy parking.
You must visit The Raby Arms in Hart Village.
Our latest visit was on 21st June and again can report that everything was as we previously reported. Plus today of course the sun was shining and it was the longest day.
Visted again on 25th October - first class service. Also advised NEW Menu is due out on 1st November including venison and pheasant. Look foward to another game bird.
