India Cafe

The India Cafe is in Whitby Street, Hartlepool about 500 yards from the railway station, next door to the refurbished Princess Helena pub.
On my last visit in the company of friends Ian and Karen we had a splendid evening. A warm and attentive waiter showed us to our table and took our drinks order whilst we looked at the extensive menu. On this occasion I opted for onion barjee with salad and mango chutney followed by a most excellent chicken tikka massala. Did not make the dessert course yet again but finished our meal with coffee and a liquer.
The India Cafe does have a range of wines, beers and spirits including the very popular Elephant beer from India in bottles.
Hinterlands clean and hygienic as one might expect with the local council health department seal of approval.
Parking is sometimes difficult in Whitby Street especially on a weekend and if possible I suggest you go to the India Cafe by taxi.
After your meal there are a choice of public houses for a night cap including The Vaults (currently closed), Princess Helena, Chicago Rock or as it has been renamed Shout(for those who enjoy a livlier scene) Banana Joes and the Hill Carter - all located within 100 yards in Whitby Street.
Very busy on a weekend as one might expect.
Check out the India Cafe and let me know what you think via our guestbook.
cheers
John
