Kitemaking Workshop - 22 May 2007

The Yr 5 and 6 children took part in a Cluster Network kitemaking workshop at Croft School. The children really enjoyed the activity and all the kites worked really well.

Annapurna Dance Company - 26 March 2007

We had a visit from Shandha, an indian dance lady, to work with the children and teach them typical indian routines. Some children were taught a stick dance, others were taught a dance that depicted a story, the younger children made snakes and then did a snake charming routine.

A short show was put on by the children at 3.00 p.m. for parents, together with Shandha performing a dance routine demonstration.

Literacy Workshop - 28 March 2007

The Yr 3 children attended a Literacy Workshop at Barton School as part of the Cluster Network. They took part in a demonstration by a children's book illustrator.

The event had been really interesting and enthused the children into reading different books and looking at the illustrations.

World Book Day and Readathon

The school took part in the World Book Day and raised funds via a Readathon for CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Children) and the Roald Dahl Foundation. The money was raised by sponsoring children to read books. We celebrated the day by allowing the children to dress up as their favourite book characters.

£250.00 was donated to the charity.

Spring Fair - 24 March 2007

The Friends of the School organised a Spring Fair to raise funds for the School Fund.

There were games, competitions, refreshments, pony rides, produce stall, tombola etc. A grand prize draw also took place. The children thoroughly enjoyed the event and we would like to thank all the people who supported and helped at the Fair. £618.22 was raised.

The picture below shows some of the prizewinning Easter Bonnets.

Netball Match - 19 September 2007

Our children who play Netball on a Monday after school thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to play against other children at Middleton Tyas School.

Congratulations to those who took part and winning the match at 5 games to 4.

Children's Author - Helena Pieichaty

We were delighted that Helen Pieichaty, authoress joined us for the whole day. She involved the whole school in various workshops and lessons which inspired children with their literacy.

Afterwards there was an opportunity for children to purchase some of her books and to have them signed by her.
