Filey Dams Nature Reserve
Filey Dams is the last remaining freshwater marsh of any size in the region. It covers about 6 hectacres, and is leased by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Office from Scarborough Borough Concil.
It is also supported by M.A.F.F under their Countryside Stewardship scheme.
Formerly a favourite site for duck shooting, the reserve now forms an important part of the Filey Brigg Ornithological Group's recording area.
Although primarily noted for its ornithological importance, Filey Dams also has some intersting botanical specimens and is home to a number of mammal, insect and amphibian species.
