"Max Bygraves - A Real Professional":
 | | I've always been an admirer of Max Bygraves, and was surprised to gleen this information about him recently. He recently sold his beloved MB 1 car number plate to, along with the Rolls Royce it has been on for many years. Born on 16th October 1922, Bygraves is remembered by many for the famous radio programme 'Educating Archie' and for TV's 'Singalongamax' and 'Family Fortunes'. He holds the record for artists appearing at the Royal Variety Performance. He reputably refused up to £50,000 for MB1 from Mercedes Benz. |

"CHARITY SHOP BANS MAX BYGRAVES":
A charity shop in Kent is asking for records and CDs to sell - as long as they are not by Max Bygraves or Val Doonican.
The Oxfam shop has a sign outside saying it does not want any more records by the two veteran crooners - because it has so many already.
The manager says it is not meant as an insult, and says the large number of albums by the singers show how successful they have been.
Max Bygraves said there were so many of his records in charity shops because lots of people who bought them originally had died.
'Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer'
Staff at the Oxfam shop recently did a stock-take of all their records and found the same artists and albums cropping up again and again.
The Manager said: "We discovered we have an absolute plethora of Max Bygraves, Val Doonican, the New Seekers and musicals such as 'The Sound of Music' and 'Oliver'.
"It's a measure of their popularity and success, it's not meant as an insult and I hope I'm not going to offend anybody.
"I was brought up on Max Bygraves - Pink Toothbrush, Blue Toothbrush, Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer and all those, so I hope I'm not going to offend Max Bygraves."
Bygraves, speaking to BBC Radio from Australia, where he is on tour, said the records had served him well. "It's quite all right - don't forget we all grow older and a lot of the people who bought those records are with us no more.
I'm 80 this year - if you make it there you're a survivor and not everybody makes it I'm afraid.
"They must have handed them down to people who thought 'well, it's not my music'. "They were great records and they gave me a lot of financial pleasure." He said he knew some people gave away old vinyl copies of his albums after replacing them with CDs because the quality was so much better.
The Manager said vinyl was still a much-wanted format in the store. "We love having vinyl of Donovan, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley," she said. "Recently we sold an Elvis single for £79, so it's a good market for us. "Perhaps we'll get a rush on Max Bygraves now."
Finally from Max:
"They were great records and they gave me a lot of financial pleasure".

"An audience with Max Bygraves":
 | To mark Max Bygraves' 60th year in showbusiness he is performing at the London Palladium; 300 tickets have been made available to Variety Club at £35 per head.
Of his spectacular career, he says: "I’ve met all the greats – Jack Benny, George Burns, Groucho Marx, Sophie Tucker. They were my superiors and were big stars and I gazed at them with awe. What they’re looking for now is notoriety. When I came up in the trade you had to be a decent fella. You can shock these days if you want to. It lasts a year or 18 months and then it’s all forgotten. They don’t get remembered affectionately.
“Today’s entertainers don’t get the chance we had to entertain an audience in a theatre. They don’t get the chance to learn like we used to of holding an audience. If I go on a stage today and don’t get a standing ovation I think I’ve failed. I know how to work an audience. I’m on stage sometimes for an hour and a half. I don’t think there’s a performer around nowadays who can hold them. You can cheat on television, you can come back tomorrow and do another 10 minutes. To actually stand on a stage with no props and hold an audience, you can actually could it on one hand in the world today the people who can do this.”
The evening will certainly be filled with surprises.

'It's Wonderfull!'
A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present “Seven Wonders of the World". Though there were some disagreements, the following have received the most votes:
1: Egypt's Great Pyramids
2: The Taj Mahal
3: The Grand Canyon
4: The Panama Canal
5: The Empire State Building
6: St Peter's Basilica if
7: China's Great Wall
When gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one quiet student hadn't turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her task.
The girl replied, “Yes a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many”. The teacher said, well, tells us what you have, and maybe we can help. The girl hesitated, then read, " I think the seven wonders of the world are:
1: To see
2: To hear
3: To touch
4: To taste
5: To feel
6: To laugh
7: To love.
The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. Things we overlook as simple, ordinary, and take for granted, are truly wondrous!
A gentle reminder - that the most precious things in life.... cannot be built by hand - or - bought by man.

'Did You Know':
 | Tall Stories,but True:
Facts about the Movies.....
The original Batmobile used in the 1966 TV series was based on the Lincoln Futura. The futura was a concept car designed by Lincoln Mercury's chief stylist, Bill Schmidt, and built by Ghia in Italy in 1955 at a huge cost of $250,000.
Apparently, Schmidt based his design on a shark he'd encountered on holiday a couple of years earlier. The Futura was launched at the Chicago Auto Show in January 1955, before being seen on the Ed Sullivan Show (sponsored by Lincoln). But the Futura's styling was at odds with the mood of the Sixties and it never went into production.
It spent several years touring car shows and appeared in the Debbie Reynolds 1959 film 'It Started With A Kiss' before being stored on a studio lot. The unwanted Futura ended up in the hands of George Barris, owner of Barris Kustoms, California, and creator of countless custom cars and hot rods.
In 1965, just three weeks before filming was due to start, Barris was commissioned to build the Batmobile for ABC's new TV series.
With so little time, he modified the Futura, retaining the chassis and basic shape but restyling the front and rear with bat-like shapes. He built another three Batmobiles for the series, although these were built on production car chassis. For U.S. $55,000 (around £33,375), the Canadian company Unique Movie Cars ad Props, which is run by Don Currie, will sell you a Batmobile replica called the Anti-Crime Roadster.
Which Film has the most sequels?

Which song has the longest title?
The song with the longest title is, 'I'm a Cranky Old Yank in a Clanky Old Tank on the Streets of Yokohama With My Honolulu Mama Doin' Those Beat-o, Beat-o Flat-On-My-Seat-o, Hirohito Blues,' written by Hoagy Carmichael in 1943. He later claimed the song title ended with 'Yank' and the rest was a joke.
What is the biggest selling song world – wide?
Elton John's tribute to Princess Diana surpassed 'White Christmas' as the biggest-selling single worldwide. The 1997 version of the song 'Candle In The Wind', Elton John's reworked tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales sold 32 million copies around the world, overtaking 'White Christmas' by Bing Crosby, the previous highest seller which had an estimated 30 million sales worldwide.
