2005/06 Projects
Flower Bed Project
The project involved digging out three new flower beds in Eastbourne Park and, with the help of volunteers over the 30th June and 1st of July, planting hundreds of Geraniums.
Local children and residents of a nearby nursing home, Darlington Manor, are pictured above with Friends of Eastbourne Park.

Bird Box Project
 | Penny Sinclair from 'The Tees Forest Organisation' had toured the Park with The Friends in September and made suggestions regarding the siting of bird boxes.
In October, The Friends helped install 20 boxes for a variety of wild birds. In this way, we hope to encourage more wildlife in the Park.
Pictured above are some of The Friends with the bird boxes. |
|
Bulb Planting
 | To create Spring colour in the Park, The Friends planted hundreds of bulbs, many Daffodils and Crocus, around the base of trees and in the Avenue at the main entrance to the Park.

Maintaining the Flower Beds
 | | Here we see local children helping to water the new flower beds. |
|
Picnic Tables, New Seating & Litter Bins
 | Seating in the Park was poor. We have installed brand new seating, as well as creating a picnic area beside the children's playground. Now visitors can sit at the tables and picnic if they wish.
It is encouraging how many people are now using this facility. New Litter Bins are helping to keep the Park clean.

Notice Boards
 | To help The Friends communicate with the users of the Park, three large noticeboards have been installed at each entrance.
Throughout the Spring and Summer months events will be publicised on the Noticeboards.
