Parody on Keep the home fires burning

(1)
There are soldiers out in Flanders
They are lads from the Cleveland Mines
They are hearty, bright & cheery
Though they've cause for grunts and whimes
With a hearty laugh and happy
Many miles they tramp along
And with Captain Stead before them
You can hear them sing this song

(Chorus)
Keep the Fourth Yorks marching
Though they're backs are aching
And they're feet are tired & sore
they still keep on
For there's a feed a waiting
And it needs a slating
And it won't be long before
Their days work's done

(2)
Many lads have now gone under
Many a heart that's brave & true
And we sing of them with honour
Though their deaths we always rue
And to take their places now lads
Reinforcements still come on
And as soon as they get to us
You can hear them sing this song.

(Chorus)
Keep the Fourth Yorks marching
Though they're backs are aching
And they're feet are tired & sore
they still keep on
For there's a feed a waiting
And it needs a slating
And it won't be long before
Their days work's done
