Frosterley Co-op
 | The Co-op at Frosterely was completely modernised in 2003 and it sells everything. Well almost everything and if they don't have it, I am sure that the friendly staff will order it in for you. Just providing its legal!
Retaining the Co-op supermarket is vital if Frosterley is to remain a vibrant rural community. The Co-op, Mel's Chip Shop and Frosterley Village Hall are all next to each other, the hub of village life. Even the Post Office has now resited to the Co-op. The Co-op, licensed for the sale of intoxicating liquors, also sell newspapers, birthday cards, fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery, milk and all the tinned goods and frozen foods you would expect a good supermarket to carry.
Village shops play an important role as they provide a place to exchange chit chat and gossip, drawing your pensions, buying your newspaper and not least advertising local events. It is overlooked that many people, particularly some of our elderly or should I say more mature Frosterley residents, do not have cars and therefore shopping for them at Crook or Bishop Auckland is not an option. So come on folk support your local Co-op and Chip Shop or they will go the same way as Richardsons, Pat's, the Video Shop and Weardale Mountain Bikes. |
