Red Squirrels at Killhope Musuem

Beside the museum, in the woods, visitors can have a rare sight, red squirrels. It was thought that there were only gray squirrels in Weradale until 2002, when someone noted the telltale pine cone remains, nibbled to leave a "core".

Watch Out - Squirrels About

Now the question must be asked, are they the remains of a native population or the squirrel tourists from Northumberland, moving down from the Tynedale. Also watch out for the Sparty Mole.
