Gilling West & District Gardening Society

Hello and thankyou for visiting our site. Gilling West and District Gardening Society was set up in 2000, and we celebrate our 50th meeting on April 7th this year. We meet every second Thursday in the month except for August when we take our Summer break. The meetings all take place in Gilling West Village Hall, Gilling West is 3 miles west of Scotch Corner just off the A66. We meet at 7.30pm and meetings usually finish between 9.30 and 10.00. We have a guest speaker at each meeting, we hold a raffle and end the meeting with coffee and biscuits. From April until September we also have a plant stall where members are encouraged to bring cuttings and spare plants along, money raised helps pay for speakers. As well as the monthly meetings we have an annual Gardens Open event in June. This has been very popular in the past, usually about 15 gardens in the village are open and we serve refreshments in the Village Hall. The December meeting is actually our Christmas Supper, where the committee members cook supper for the members. The cost is £5.00 each. We usually have a quiz during the supper. We hope you will come along and join us. Annual membership is only £5.00, otherwise it is £1.00 per meeting for non members. We look forward to seeing you very soon.
