Eruptions long ago.

Members may recall that some months ago an expat Knaresboro resident contacted the website. I invited Sarah to send me something about where she lives now. Here it is.
**************************************************

Mount Tarawera the volcano that erupted in 1886, the same year that Taylor's Tea Company was established in Harrogate. The eruption buried a whole Maori village after the sighting of a phantom canoe on the lake one evening shortly before the cataclysmic event. The ferocity of nature also destroyed the world famous Pink and White Terraces a coloured set of silica terraces which were visited by Victorian travellers who also visited the nearby spa town of Rotorua to bathe in hot thermal waters. Perhaps the same adventurous Victorians graced the streets and spas of Harrogate, a thought that captured my imagination while living in the graceful spa town on the other side of the world. I hope that one day Harrogate will once again be sought for her spa cures as well as her soothing ambience.
Samantha Stockbridge.
**************************************************Sarah also sent colour pictures of beautiful scenery. Unfortunately it is not technically possible to include them. If you would like to contact Sarah, let me know and I will give you her email address.
