New limits for competitions.

All submissions for competitions must be laid out in the same style as when submitting to a publishing house or newspaper. This has a few bonuses, the main ones being:

• It is much easier for the adjudicator to read,
• It gives no cause for criticism of your work. A submission may be very good in content, but lose points because it is not well presented.

ARTICLES CHAPTERS FROM NOVELS : SHORT STORIES

• All prose submissions for the Main Competitions with external adjudicators must be typed on A4 paper, in double spacing and wide margins all round.
• Pages to be numbered.
• The last word on a page should be followed by a slash (I) and that word repeated as the first word on the following page.
• When using a computer, please submit “perfect” pages.
• When using a typewriter, try and retype a changed page before submission.
• Words scored out, and insertions in pen give a very unprofessional look to your presentation, and may cause criticism not related to the quality of your work.

WORD ALLOWANCE

Main Competitions where there are external adjudicators -
• Articles 1,500 words
• Chapters from Novel 3,000
• Short Story 2,000

• The adjudicator has the right to change the word allowance, and if this is requested, it must be adhered to. The number of words of your submissions to be typed at the end of the work.
