Welcome to The Hatton Gallery
The Hatton Gallery is conveniently located within the Quadrangle of the University of Newcastle, close to the city centre.
The gallery's permanent collection comprises of over 3,500 works, which include painting, sculpture, prints, drawing and many other media.
In addition to the internationally significant Merzbarn wall by Kurt Schwitters, the gallery is also home to the Uhlman Collection of African Art and nationally important paintings from the 14th century to the present day. |
Exhibiton Programme

In addition to the permanent collection, The Hatton hosts an extensive programme of temporary exhibitions and displays, which are designed to enhance the understanding and appreciation of a range of art styles, techniques and practices.
Whether you are starting from scratch or wanting to increase existing knowledge, there is something available for everyone to enjoy.

Education Programme
 Alongside each of the exhibitions, the gallery's education officer runs a series of innovative education projects which focus upon an element of the exhibition. Group activities, including materials used are FREE.
The programme aims to extend the existing gallery audience and to encourage the understanding and enjoyment of art by people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities."
The education programme is extremely flexible with fun projects for children and adults of all abilities.
