Club Constitution

1. Club Name:
The Club Shall Be Called: - Haughton Cricket Club

2. Club Location:
The Club Shall Play At, Haughton Cricket Ground
Bishopton Lane
Great Burdon
Darlington
Co Durham.

3. Club’s Main Aims:
To play cricket, at senior level in the - Darlington & District Cricket League.
To play cricket at, junior level in the - Darlington & District Junior Cricket League.
To develop the playing of cricket by introducing, encouraging and coaching youngsters into the sport of cricket.
To play cup cricket as agreed at the Annual General Meeting.

4. Officers:
The officers shall be President (Life Position), Vice-President (Life Position), Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.
There will also be an Auditor.
The officers shall be elected annually at the “Annual General Meeting”, together with the Captain and Vice-Captain of each team.

5. Committees:
The club committee shall be responsible for the running of the club and shall consist of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, 1st Team Captain, 2nd Team Captain and 1 further member of the club who shall be elected annually.

The club committee shall meet once a month, if this is not possible the club committee should at least meet six times a year.

The selection committee shall consist of 1st team captain and 2nd team captain and one other member of the club (who will be elected annually at the AGM).
They will be responsible for all 1st and 2nd team selection.
If at anytime either captain is unavailable then the appropriate vice captain shall take their place.
The selection committee shall meet every Thursday throughout the season at 19.30hrs to select teams for Saturday matches and any mid-week matches.

Junior teams will be selected by, the team managers.

It is the responsibility of all club members to advise the selection committee of their availability / non-availability for match selection.


6. Annual General Meeting (AGM):
The AGM shall be held in December.

The Secretary is responsible for arranging the AGM.

7. Membership:
New members shall be accepted into the club, subject to successful application to become a member.

8. Finance:
The treasurer is responsible for the handling of all monies and the financial accounting of the club.

The club auditor shall audit the accounts annually.
(The auditor shall be elected annually at the AGM)

Audited accounts shall be presented to the AGM.

Insurance cover shall be obtained on the advice of the
Secretary and Treasurer.

The current account shall be arranged so that any two signatories from the four nominated committee members will validate cheques.

9. Subscriptions:
Membership subscriptions are to be paid to the Treasurer before the 1st May each year.
A membership card will be issued, only when the full subscription fee is paid.

Failure to pay subscriptions by the said date will make the member unavailable for team selection.

Subscriptions can be paid to the treasurer weekly, monthly or in full from the
1st January each year.

Membership Subscription groups are as follows: -
Full Members
Full Members (In Full-Time Education)
Full Members (Unemployed)
Junior Members (Under 16)
Junior Members (Under 13)

Unemployed Members will pay the full-time education rate of subscription.

In Addition to Subscription fees there will be a match fee for all Saturday league matches of £1.00 per player.

Tea money shall be paid at the rate set by the,
Darlington & District Cricket League.
The team captain shall ensure that at least eleven tea monies are collected for each match.

10. Playing Conditions:
The Laws of Cricket shall be adhered to. “The Spirit of the Game”

In the event that the club should fold and be no longer in existence then any assets of the club would be forwarded to another club or similar organisation.

The club members agree the Constitution and Rules as written above.
