Welcome to West Rainton and Leamside Local History Group

West Rainton and Leamside Local History Group was founded in January 2004 by a group of individuals with an interest in their village and in an attempt to collect and preserve its heritage. We are a small group of 11 members and we meet each Friday evening at 7.30 pm (during term times), at West Rainton Jubilee Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether it concerns joining the group or to offer or request information. We are currently amassing a collection of photographs for our Village Digital Archive, together with any information on the villages, their history and past residents, in an attempt to make a lasting record for generations to come. We support ourselves, with the help of charitable donations gratefully received, by using monies raised from the sale of publications and calendars to fund the digital archive and purchase any necessary software.
