 | The 'Fighting G' Club was formed for the survivors and families of men lost from HMS Gloucester, which was sunk in the battle of Crete on 22nd May 1941. From a ship's company of 807 men, only 85 survived and went on to endure the devastation of POW camps.
The men and boys who lost their lives continue to be remembered by the remaining survivors and their families who gather each year at the Royal Naval War Memorial on Plymouth Hoe on the anniversary of the sinking of their ship. See Events page for details and dates in May each year.
The 'Fighting G' Club, so named because of the nickname given to the ninth HMS Gloucester, always welcomes new members. See Contact Us for details.
