Haughton 'Old Boys' Team - May 2006
 | Saturday (13th May) Haughton Volleyball Club entered a Veterans Volleyball Competition in Peterborough.
This is the 4th time the team has played there.
There were 9 teams in the competition from various parts of England.
Haughton played extremely well, winning 7 matches and drawing 1 to win the competition for the first time, and by some considerable margin.
All the players were over 40yrs old, but superior fitness and skill won out!
On Sunday the club entered 3 teams in the Ian Berry tournament at the Dolphin Centre.
Ian is the current Northern Echo 'Local Heroe'.
This proved to be a very successful day for Haughton Volleyball Club.
The 'Old Boys' were narrowly beaten into 2nd place in the Open competition after recovering from their victory the previous day.
The Ladies team were presented with the North of England League Trophy and also won the Ladies
Shield on the day, beating Hebburn Ladies in the final.
The Haughton Men won the Elite event, beating Nunthorpe in the final.
A very successful weekend all round, with the club proving once again to be the volleyball club in the North of England. |
