Q.What is a Personal Assistant?
A. A personal Assistant is someone who will be employed to provide support on a regular basis to persons who, through disability, are unable to carry out some aspect of daily living i.e. Personal,Domestic or Social needs.
Q. What is the Register for?
A. The Register will allow accurate information to act as a mailing list to people with disabilities who are looking to employ Personal Assistants.
Q. How does the Register Work?
A. Personal Assistants will be required to complete a registration form. When the registration form has been completed it should then be returned to the Independent Living Project. Upon receipt of the registration form, you will receive a copy of your registration details outlining what information is being held on computer.
Each year you will be sent a review form in order that you can check the information held on computer and make any alterations that are necessary. In the meantime, if there are any changes you may write or telephone the Personal Assistant Register at the Independent Living Project on Tel 01642 806866.
Q. How will I benefit if I join the Register?
A. Personal Assistants who join the register will receive regular vacancy updates and training opportunities in Health & Safety, Manual Handling, First Aid and Food Hygiene or other relevant courses.
Confidentiality
Any information held on the Register will be treated in the strictest of confidence. Disclosure of personal information will only be allowed with the individuals consent. The Information on the Personal Assistant Register will be held on computer in line with the strictest requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.
Registration Fee
An annal fee of £30 includes in-house and reduced cost training
£10 registration fee - gives regular updates of vacancies in your specific area
£15 registration fee - gives you information on vacancies for the whole of Cleveland including a monthly newsletter
An annual discounted price of £20 allows you to get up-to-date in-house training.
