Lingdale School (Help)

This picture of Lingdale School was published in Remember When issue 38, July 5th 2003 and belonged to Mrs Ellen Ackerley for some years.
Her daughter Mrs Pam Barnes of the Royal George at Staithes submitted it for publication with the hope of identifying some of the pupils or Teacher.
We are probably talking about 70 years or so ago, but that is only a guess. If some one out there recognises anyone at all please get in touch with me via the e-mail form.
Thank you
Alison

Lingdale is losing one of its best known personalities this week – although he himself has never lived in the village.
Mr Abel Sowerby, deputy head at the Lingdale Village School is retiring after 33 happy years on the staff.
A keen sportsman, he has looked after the school football team which in his first four years, never lost a league match. Recalling his first day at the school on February 3, 1947, he said he had to travel up from Dormanstown at the height of a great snow storm. “I wondered at first where I’d got to, because I’d only been in Lingdale once before , at the interview” he said.
The ex-Royal Navy man who is going out to spend a holiday with relatives in Australia said “As a cricket fanatic I’m looking forward to seeing as many Test matches as I can, do my gardening, and continue with my favourite hobby, which is walking”
