LEX ORANDI LEX CREDENDI: WHO WE ARE and WHY WE ARE HERE

Lex Orandi Lex Credendi consists of a group of Catholics, loyal to the Pope and Church, who have a deep attachment to the Old, or Tridentine, Mass which has been the main act of worship of the Catholic Church for hundreds of years. Contrary to what many priests and bishops have suggested the Old Mass was never abolished when the Novus Ordo was introduced in 1970 and it remains perfectly lawful for a priest to celebrate it. Relevant documents will be posted from time to time on this website to substantiate our claim.

LOLC is not confrontational in intent. It exists simply to work for easier access to the Tridentine Mass for anyone who feels a need for it. However, we are prepared to defend our position with as much vigour as necessary should we need to do so! But, whenever possible with charity.

Some members of LOLC are also members of the Latin Mass Society, others are not whilst some are engaged in other forms of Catholic Action. What we have in common is our love for the Old Mass and a desire for it to return to our churches without restriction.

Currently, Bishop Dunn of Hexham and Newcastle has approved the use of the Tridentine Mass on Sundays at three churches in his diocese: St Mary’s, Barnard Castle at 9 a.m., St Dominic’s, Newcastle at 11-30 a.m. and St Joseph’s, Gateshead at Noon. Unfortunately, no provision has yet been made for Holydays of Obligation but we continue to hope and pray for a change of heart about this.

LOLC is managed and edited by Richard S Rainbow who is the site owner and who can be contacted via the Guest Book, Message Board or email from this site. All text appearing in Blue will be the work of the site owner unless otherwise stated.

Despite the many rumours regarding the 'restoration' of the Old Mass this webmaster is taking a short holiday in that once most Catholic isle of Ireland.

Enough to say that our Religious Correspondent, the Rev. D. Thomas, resident in Rome and without any contacts whatsoever, reminds me that he has never yet been wrong in his judgements about Restoration Rumours: 'They are just rumours and will be replaced by new rumours very soon after the date has passed for the present rumours to have become facts'. That also applies to the present batch in circulation.
