Letter dated 6/9/07

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to a new term, I hope you all had a good holiday.

We are delighted to welcome James and Oscar into our Reception year and Connor into Yr 4.

The staffing remains the same with the exception of Mrs Snaith, who left in July.

Dinners

The cost is now £1.80 per day, £9.00 per week. This is quite a large increase, but the meals are of a high standard, and kitchen staff have been given some long overdue recognition for the work they do.

Please try to pay on time – Mondays, if paying weekly, or you can pay half-termly or termly. Cheques should be made out to NYCC Manfield Primary School.

Please make sure all monies are placed in envelopes or purses, clearly named.

After School Clubs for KS2

Sports Club - Mondays 3.30 – 4.30 p.m. If fine this will take place outside. If wet, we can use the village hall, but I will need to charge £1.00 per person to cover the rental.

Craft Club – Wednesdays 3.30 – 4.30 p.m. A variety of activities based on the children’s choices, led by Mrs Croft and Mrs Stocks. If you are interested in helping, please let us know as we occasionally have to cancel if staff have meetings.

Clothing

Please ensure that sweatshirts are clearly labelled. Please ensure that children have PE kit in school all week, so that we can take advantage of fine weather. If wet, we use the hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Plimsolls are the best footwear for the hall, trainers for the field. At this time of the year, warm clothing is a must – our field is quite open to the elements.

Subject Themes this Term

Foundation Stages – My World, Our World.

KS1 – Around our school, Forces, The Fire of London

KS2 – Coasts, Teeth and Eating, 50’s and 60’s Life of John Lennon.

Time Capsule - Wednesday 12 September 2007

Hannah Watson will be visiting the school in the morning from Richmond Station with regard to a project involving local primary schools in making a time capsule.

Tag Rugby – Thursday 13 September 2007

Our Yr 6 children will be involved in taking part in Tag Rugby training in the morning to be held at Richmond. Children will travel with either Mrs Stocks or Mrs Croft. They will be back in time for lunch. Please ensure these children have appropriate kit.

Crucial Crew – Thursday 27 September 2007

Our Yr 6 children will be taking part in Crucial Crew at RAF Leeming in the afternoon. They will be travelling with either Mrs Croft or Mrs Stocks and will return for a normal school finish.

Family Assembly

There will be no assembly on 28 September. Instead, we would like children to take part in the Harvest Festival in Manfield Church on Friday 5 October at 7.00 p.m. Details attached. Please complete the slip below to give us some indication of numbers.

Inclusion Quality Mark

We are applying for the Quality Inclusion Mark, and we are asked to have a parental point of view. If you are interested in assisting with this matter, please let me know.

Annual Consent for Local Visits and Rolling Programme

Please complete the attached form in order that the children have consent to do local visits and outings during this school year.

Yours sincerely
