Introduction to Melsonby Methodist Primary School

Melsonby Methodist Primary School is a thriving school situated in the village of Melsonby in North Yorkshire, and serves the villages of Melsonby, East Layton, West Layton, Aldbrough St John and Gilling West. The school has been at the heart of the local community for more than 140 years, and in recent years has been substantially refurbished. It is a rural school with the benefit of small class sizes and high staff to pupil ratios. The school takes pride both in developing the academic potential of its pupils, and helping them develop into confident and caring members of the community. Our dedicated and professional staff focus on each pupil as an individual, and by working with parents, and focusing on their child’s strengths, strive to gain the maximum benefit from their primary education. The school has an active and supportive Governing Body and Parent Teacher Association. There are numerous links into the community, and these have benefits both in developing the pupils’ sense of belonging and personal responsibility, and also enhancing the local community.
