The Activities Network

Membership

Our members are from all walks of life but have a common concern about activities and the health care of older people. NAPA members are Activity Organisers, staff from residential and day care settings, representatives of arts, disability and elder care organisations as well as interested indviduals.

NAPA's Task

1 To set standards of appropriate practice regarding the provsion of activities for older people.

2 To disseminate knowledge of good practice across the network of activities providers in the UK

3 To support those individuals who provide activities for older people, whether in home or care settings.

Training

NAPA is committed to providing quality training at affordable prices and offers courses concerned with the fundamental issues of using thereuputic activities in the health care of older people. We have a particular concern to offer training in the difficult area of dementia.

We are currently working in collaboration with City & Guilds to develop an award for Activities Oganisers.

Research and Publication

NAPA believes that good quality research and the dissemination of information of information is at the heart of progress in the health care field. We are developing our research interests in the matter of activities, and training in activities. We are currently working with Wetminster Social Services to carry out an action research project investigating activities services in long-term care settings.

Newletter

The newsletter is currently published three times a year and is free for all members. Each issue has a different theme and is structured to be kept for reference in a ring binder. It contains:
