League Competition Rules


Senior Cup- Minor Cup- Potts Cup- Mixed League- Club Knockout

1 The Cup Shall Be Played For As Per League Fixtures Dated And Printed.

2 Senior Cup, Minor Cup, Potts Cup, Mixed League
The Matches Will Commence At 7.00pm From Season Start Until Till End Of July. 15 Minutes Grace Will Be Allowed For The Arrival Of Any Players, But Games Must Start No Later Than 7.15pm. Any Team Not Ready To Play At The Time Will Forfeit The Game. From 1st August Matches Will Commence At 6.30pm From Season Start Until Till End Of July. 15 Minutes Grace Will Be Allowed For The Arrival Of Any Players, But Games Must Start No Later Than 6.45pm. Any Team Not Ready To Play At The Time Will Forfeit The Game.

2a Club Team Knockout Competition

3 Two Trail Ends Will Be Allowed In All Matches

4 All Matches Shall Be Played On The Night Fixed If The Weather And State Of Green So Permits.

5 In The Event Of A Match Being Unfinished Owing To Rain Or Other Causes. The Match Shall Be Replayed In Its Entirety Unless At Least 75 Per Cent Of The Total Ends Of Each Rink Is Completed. No Match Shall Be Played With The Above Mentioned Arrangement Negotiated Prior To The Commencement Of Play, And Only After 10 Ends Have Been Completed On Each Rink.

6 In Case Of A Tie On Points To Decide The Winner Of The League, Shot Difference Shall Then Decide The Winner

7 Senior Cup & Minor Cup The Matches Will Be Played Between 9 Representatives Of Each Club, Divided Into 3 Rinks Of 3 Players Each Rink, And Shall Consist Of 21 Ends, 2 Bowls Per Player. Should A Team Be One Player Short The Game Shall Be Played And The Points Awarded To The Winning Team. (See Special Conditions)

8 Mixed League The Matches Will Be Played Between 9 Representatives Of Each Club, Divided Into 3 Mixed Rinks Of 3 Players Each Rink, And Shall Consist Of 21 Ends, 2 Bowls Per Player. In Cases Where A Team Is One Player Short, All Rinks Must Remain Mixed.

9 Potts Cup The Matches Will Be Played Between 9 Representatives Of Each Club, Divided Into 3 Rinks Of 3 Players Each Rink, And Shall Consist Of 21 Ends, 2 Bowls Per Player. Should A Team Be One Player Short The Game Shall Be Played And The Points Awarded To The Winning Team. (See Special Conditions)

10 Senior Cup, Minor Cup, Potts Cup, Mixed League. Six Points Shall Be Awarded To The Team With Most Shots Plus Two Points For Each Winning Rink, One Point For A Draw. If A Game Is Tie, Three Points Will Be Awarded To Each Team Plus Their Rink Scorers

11 Any Club Intending To Enter More Than One Team In Any One County League Must Submit A List Of Members Selected To Represent Each Team To The League Secretary Not Later Than The 21st March Of That Season.

12 Once These Lists Are Received These Will Remain Labelled A B C Etc For The Remainder Of That Season And Are To Be Considered Independent Of Each Other And Governed Separately By The Relevant County Conditions. Consequently No Player May Represent More Than One Of His Clubs Teams In Any One League Competition.

13 Clubs Violating Any Of The Above Conditions Shall Be Subject To A Fine At The Discretion Of The Executive Committee.

14 Green Fees For The Both Teams Shall Be Paid By The ’Home’ Team.

15 Each Club Competing Shall Pay An Entry Fee As Agreed Per Team Per League. Payable Before (Date Fixed By The County Secretary) Of That Season.

16 Score Sheets For All Matches To Be Returned To The League Secretary Not Later Than The Saturday Following The Game Being Played By The Winning Team Captain.

Mixed League
Conditions And Special Conditions Will Apply As Per Senior Cup, And Minor And Potts Cup Except All Rinks Must Be Mixed. If A Substitute Is Used, All Rinks Must Still Remain Mixed. All Lady Players Must Comply With The NCWBF Dress Rules

Club Team Knockout Competition
1 This Competition Is Open To All Clubs Affiliated To The NCBA (Three A Side)

2 Only One Team Per Club May Be Entered.

3 The Matches Will Be Played Between 12 Representatives Of Each Club, Divided Into 4 Rinks Of 3 Players Each Rink, And Shall Consist Of 25 Ends, 2 Bowls Per Player.

4 Rinks May Be Any Combination Of Male And/Or Female Players Providing Always That Any Lady Players Are Members Of That Particular Club And Are Also Affiliated Members Of The NCWBF. All Lady Players Must Abide By NCWBF Dress Rules.

5 All Matches Will Be Decided On Aggregate Overall Score.

6 Winner Of This Competition To Represent The NCBAC (Three A Side) In The Following Years Nation Durham Centenary Trophy Competition.

Postponed Matches

1. The Definition Of A ‘Postponed Match’ Is A Match That Has To Be Postponed Due To Adverse Weather Condition (Game Started Or Not) Or As Defined In B.

Special Conditions.

2. Postponed Matches Shall Be Played On A Night Agreed By Both Club Secretaries. Failing Such Agreement, A Date Shall Be Fixed By The League Secretary And League Sub-Committee.

3. The Home Team Secretary Is Advice The League Secretary Of Any Postponed Games Within 24 Hours, And When Agreed, The Rearranged Date. Any Rearranged Game Are To Be Played Before The Last Fixture Date Of That Respective League, Otherwise The League Sub-Committee Will Determine The Defaulting Team. The Defaulting Team Shall Lose All Points And Also All Points/ Shots Associated With Their Games Will Be Deleted, The Defaulting Team Shall Lose All Points And Also All Points/ Shots Associated With Their Games Will Be Deleted, The Defaulting Team Will Also Be Fined £15.00

4. When A Postponed Match Occurs On The Last Day Of The Respective League, 72 Hours Will Be Allowed In Which The Game Should Be Arranged.

1.If Adequate Reason Is Not Given To The League Secretary/ League Sub-Committee Any Team Which Doesn’t Fulfil The Full League Programme In Any One League By The Last Day Of That Competition Will Be Liable To Exclusion From That League The Following Season. This Situation Can Only Occur Once In Any One League In Any One Season. The League Secretary/ League Sub-Committee Will Determine The Defaulting Team. The Defaulting Team Shall Lose All Points And Also All Points/ Shots Associated With Their Games Will Be Deleted, The Defaulting Team Will Also Be Fined £15.00.

League Resignation

1. Unless Adequate Reason Are Given In Writing To League Secretary/ League Sub-Committee Any Teams Dropping Out Of The League Will Be Liable To Exclusion From That League The Following Season, And All Points/ Shots Associated With That Teams Games Will Be Deleted And The Club Fined £15.00.

Special Conditions

A. Clubs Not Having A Full Team May Play Only One Affiliated Lady Member Substitute Without Being Penalised, But A Substitute Must Be Shown On The Team Sheet As A Substitute And Will Not Be Allowed To Skip.

B. Any Club Not Meeting The Criteria Of Paragraph ‘A’ (Ie) Not Providing A Minimum Of 11 Players Including A Substitute Will Be Deemed As A Postponed Match. Rearrangement Will Be Allowed, And This Will Come Under ‘Postponed Matches’ Paragraphs 2 And 3. This Situation Can Only Occur Once In Any One League In Any One Season. The League Secretary/ League Sub-Committee Will Determine The Defaulting Team. The Defaulting Team Shall Lose All Points And Also All Points/ Shots Associated With Their Games Will Be Deleted, The Defaulting Team Will Also Be Fined £15.00.

C. Where In Circumstance That 2 Players Have To Play Against 3 They Must Play With 2 Bowls Each Following The Sequence Of Play As Law Of The Game.

D. Where A Green Is Not Available Owing To Relaying Or Other Temporary Causes, The Executive Committee Shall Have The Power To Grant Permission To Use Suitable Alternative Accommodation.
