News From The NCBA 3 A SIDE

Under 25's Match Against Humberside

The Match Between The Under 25's & Humberside Has Been Cancelled, Due To Humberside Not Able To Field A Team, The Next Match Will Be Against Derbyshire on Sunday 15th June 2008 At New Delaval & Newsham. 1.30pm Start

Selection Committee Changes

New changes to the selection committee following the Exec Meeting with Mr P D Barron (League Sec/ Press Officer) standing down as a selector to take on the role as Adams team Captain and Mr F Charlton (L&E) takes over the role as a selector.

News From The Association AGM

President B Middleton stood down at our Annual General Meeting as our president after an excellent year with two national trophies coming home from Skegness. Barry pass on the chain office to our New President, We would like to thank him for all his hard work over the past year.

At the county AGM Ken Barnes was elected to serve as the President for 2008. John Slaughter was elected to serve as the Deputy Presidents, Ernie Kirkup was elected as Junior Deputy president

the Chairman, Vice Chairman, League Sec, Competition Sec, Treasurer, match sec, and Secretary were re-elected to serve for 2008

The Press Officer post was taken over by Phillip Barron.

Mr. Barry Middleton. in is Retirement Speech said that he had been proud to serve as our President for the year 2007. It had been every Presidents dream to come home from Skegness with a National Champion, which we did in the Mens Pairs. We nearly did it Newark, with ‘Herbie and his gang’. He had thoroughly enjoyed his year, as President, and hoped that he had done the County proud. He thanked the Chairman for making his job that much easier. He also thanked his Club for nominating him. During his thirty odd years, playing bowls, he had his highs and lows and being President has been one of his highs. He thanked Hirst Park for making his Presidents Day a memorable occasion. He had one last duty to perform and that was to Mr. George Collins, Hirst Park, in Respect and Appreciation of his loyal service to Northumberland County Bowling Association (Three-a-side), and presented George with a framed Certificate to this effect. George, in reply, said he was not a man of many words, however, he was honoured to be the recipient of this certificate. He has enjoyed all the years he has had playing bowls, has met some wonderful people and in particular Charlie Findlay whom he first started bowling with, and who was his Skip. He had one bad year when he underwent an operation in 1992. In closing George again expressed his thanks.

In The Executive Meeting After the AGM Mr B Atkinson was re-elected as the Newton Team Captain, with Mr B Barron, Mr P Barron, Mr P Munley, Mr A Byrne & Mr N Chapple Elected as Selectors for the Adams & Newton. The Adams Team Captain job was left vacant until the next meeting after Mr J Donaldson stood down from the post.

In the Under 25's Mrs Ann Lennie has taken the role on as team captain with Mr S Derbyshire, Mr N Chapple & Mr P D Barron supporting her as selectors

County AGM 2007

The 2007 County AGM will take place on TUESDAY 13TH NOVEMBER 2007 At Bedlington Station Social Club.

Skegness 2007

Well done to everyone who competed at Skegness in the EBF & EWBF National Championship. Yet a again the weather didnt spoil our sprits, Well Done to P Slaughter & G Richardson of The Hirst Park in winning the Gratton Trophy Mens Pairs & D Gray of the NCWBF in Winning the 2 Bowl Ladies Singles (Paul Howard Trophy).

Many Thanks also to Mr B Middleton (NCBA Three a Side President), Mr K Barnes (NCBA Three a Side Dt President), Mr N Clark (NCWBF President) and her Deputy President for all there hard work over the year and at Skegness, for the endless miles of walking from one green to another.

NCWBF VS NCBA 3 A SIDE

The Annual dig dong battle between the men and the ladies exec took place at Ashington & Alcan Bowling Clubs on the 10th August. Many thanks go to everyone who took part, and well done the NCWBF for winning.

County Knockout Final 2007

The County held its annual club knockout final at Alcan Bowling Club on 8th August 2007. Hirst Park and New Deleval & Newsham came head to head for the honour to represent Northumberland in the EBF Durham Centenary competition in 2008.

Hirst Park won against New Delaval 93 shots to 77.

Good Luck to the Hirst Park in the EBF Durham Centenary competition in 2008.


NCWBF Go For Gold!!

Congratulations to Northumberland Ladies in winning the 2007 EWBF LINCOLNSHIRE WBA CHALLENGE BOWL Final they are as follows M.Sowden/M.Gray/A.Lennie. Well Done From Everyone At Northumberland CBA (Three A Side)

News From The Association Spring Meeting

After the Association AGM two post were left unfilled however at the association spring meeting held on Tuesday 27th March 2007 at Bedlington Station Social Club the post were filled. President Barry presented Mr Tom Cave of Alexandra Park the Junior Deputy President Badge. Mr Ken Barnes (Deputy President) took over the Vice Chairman role. The Secretary informs the delegates that Mr Peter Asplen schedule visit to the county on June 16th at Hirst Park when Northumberland will take on Durham. The Secretary also inform delegates that due to certain circumstance Cleveland have pull out of the Reg Wright Under 25’s.

Also at the Spring Meeting Mr E W Kirkup resigned as a county selector and Mr P Munley has very kindly taken on the role. Thanks Pat.

Northumberland will have a new competition to bring it inline with National, Senior Citizen Pairs will be introduced in to the competition schedule as of the outdoor season 2008, Entry form will be out to secretaries in the summer, early autumn


Derbyshire Trophy 2006/2007

The Derbyshire Trophy will see a welcome return to the originals format of three rinks at home and three rinks away. Also it will be a welcome return to our home venue of Ashington Leisure Centre.

Selection committee has change for both outdoor and indoor matches, with some new recruits to the fold W Atkinson continue to preside over the Newton team as team captain with B Barron, H Blacklock, A Byrne & E W Kirkup as selector for both indoor and outdoors. With Two new recruits to help them being J Donaldson who will take over as the Captain of The Adams team and P Barron (League Secretary) will join the team as a selector.

Under 25’s New Season, New Tops.

The Under 25’s Reg Wright team will start there new season off in May against Humberside at home, In there new kit. Thanks to The Under 25’s Sponsor Mr J R Slaughter & Mrs M Slaughter (JMS services Ltd) who has continue to sponsor our team. The Under 25’s has also change there home venue from Ashington to Cowpen & Crofton for the 2007 season. The Season Kicks off on the 20th May 2007.

The selection Committee has also change with a new recruit to assist Ricky Hume (Captain) and Barry Middleton (President & Selector) is B Barron of Ashington. We wish all the Under 25’s and the selection committee the best of luck.

President E W Kirkup stood down at our Annual General Meeting as our Assistant Secretary as well as handing over the chain office to our New President, We would like to thank him for all his hard work over the past few years in particular the last three months as acting secretary.

At the county AGM Barry Middleton was elected to serve as the President for 2007. Ken Barnes was elected to serve as the Deputy Presidents however the Junior Deputy president post was left vacant until the 2007 Spring Meeting.

the Chairman W Lennie was re-elected; Whiles the post of Vice Chairman was left vacant due to J Russell being elected to serve as our Secretary.

At AGM there was three new Post were made and the elected to serve as League Secretary, P Barron, Competition Secretary B Middleton & Match Secretary, N Chapple.

The Treasurer & Press Officer were both re-elected.
