What is Eco-Congregation?
 The North East Churches EarthCare Group is also a partner in Eco-Congregation (the Churches Environmental Programme).
Eco-Congregation is the result of a partnership between Going for Green and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland. It offers resources to enable churches to reflect on environmental issues from a Christian perspective and to engage in environmental action in their communities.
Several churches in the north east took part in the pilot scheme in 1999. The first regional launch of Eco-Congregation will take place at Durham Town hall on Wednesday 29 November when the church leaders in the region will together sign a 'rainbow pledge' of commitment on behalf of the churches. All are welcome to come along to the day (which includes a free light lunch.
