Trees for new life
Through the Conservation Society, yew trees were distributed to parishes throughout the country to mark the new millennium. In the north east this took place at a splendid service in Durham Cathedral. The yew trees were planted in the spring of 2000 (as here in the picture at Frosterley), living links from trees alive at the time of Jesus.
The Conservation Society encourages people in every parish to act as a Parish Pump - a contact/catalyst person to share in their excellent work.
