How to be an Ecological Warrior Tourist
The world is increasingly a Global Village. We have to share it with others considerately. Overall in the Far East.India and Goa especially the indigenous people are very caring and gracious. They cannot do enough for you, recently in Goa, the cleaner of the bedroom was able to express his care by folding the towels in a very expressive ways similar to the way one would present a napkin at a special dinner service. He put clean towels and sheets in the room every day. They have little money so that is how they express themselves to you in caring ways. It is important to note these little things that are done so lovingly and show your appreciation and thank him or her personally for their consideration. Do not take too much water. The Monsoon period in India is when they obtain most of their water. Sadly they do not have the drainage and infrastructure as we do and so the Monsoons can become a disaster and a problem. We can thank these countries who host us, by contributing to Water Aid programmes. Even what we consider small donations here in the West, has greater significance to developing nations. It is natural to barter in these countries, but it is also important to remember that they have a living to make and a family to care for. Even the children have to support their families. They are very family orientated people. |
