This season for the first time sees a new scoring system for the grand prix. 100 points will be awarded to the winners, male and female, of each race. 99 points will go to 2nd, 98 to third etc. 1 point will be awarded to 100th position and everyone lower than 100th. This new system will be easier to administer and easier to understand and will come into effect immediately, i.e. this season’s Grand Prix will be based on this system. You compete in as many events as you wish and your best six results over the course of a season count for your final score. Your best six results may include one aquathlon or duathlon.
There is a prizegiving ceremony at the conclusion of each season and prizes are awarded in each 10-year age group category, down to third place for male and female competitors. There is also a team competition where the three highest scoring members of each club, regardless of age-group, combine to form the score for their club. The top three clubs, male and female, are awarded prizes. All competitors, including those competing on day licences, qualify for the individual awards but only those competitors who are paid-up members of a BTA-affiliated triathlon club can contribute to any club's score.
