Patients and residents on Teesside are being invited to make time for health by becoming involved with a new Health watchdog.
They can join one of the new independant Patient and Public Involvement Forums, which make checks on the standard of health services in the Teesside area.
More than 40 Teessiders have committed themselves to volunteering and campaigning for health improvements in the NHS and WE NEED MORE OF YOU!
The forums were introduced in December 2003 in Britain by the Commission for Patient & Public Involvement in Health. There is a Forum for each Primary care and NHS Trust in England, however the Forums are independent from the Trust. Age Concern Teesside has been awarded the contract to manage and support the 8 local forums, which are:
Middlesbrough PPI Forum
South Tees PPI Forum
Langbaurgh PPI Forum
Hartlepool Primary Care PPI Forum
North Tees & Hartlepool PPI Forum
PPI Forum North Tees Primary Care
Tees & North East Yorkshire PPI Forum
Hambleton & Richmondshire PPI Forum
In addition, Age Concern also manage two forums outside of the Teesside area:
Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale PPI Forum
Scarborough & North East Yorkshire PPI Forum
We are currently seeking more people interested in becoming forum members. Anyone 18 years or over can apply to be a member of the PPI Forums which are aimed to represent diversity across our region.
Anyone interested in becoming a forum member should contact Kevin Wilkins at Age Concern, Teesside on (01642) 805500
or via email: forumsupport@ac-teesside.com
Should you have an issue regarding a health service/issue in your area that you would like to be put forward for discussion at a forum, then contact Kevin Wilkins as above.
