Middlesbrough PPI Forum

Middlesbrough PPI Forum was set up in December 2003 to monitor primary care services, e.g. GP's, pharmacies, and dentists. The Forum currently consists of five volunteers from differing backgrounds with differing experiences to bring to discussions.

The Forum has received presentations from various different sources on differing issues, including the Primary Care Trust reconfiguration and shop mobility. The members also contributed to the Healthcare Commissions Annual Health Check by forwarding their comment on the PCT's Declaration. Further details on the work completed by the Forum and work that they intend to complete can be found in the Forum's Annual Report 2005/6. This is available on the KMS via the Commission website (see links page) or alternatively contact the FSO office (see front page).

THE FORUM STARTS TO VISIT

Middlesbrough PPI Forum have set out to audit visit GP Practices and Pharmacies in the Middlesbrough area. The Forum is using an audit visit protocol document that they have developed from the forms used by other Forums. This document asks several questions of the practice/pharmacy and includes a questionnaire that members will complete with several patients visiting the premises at the time of the visit - as it is the patients view that the Forum is particularly interested in! A report from each visit will be circulated to Middlesbrough Primary Care Trust, the practice/pharmacy in question, Middlesbrough Overview & Scrutiny Committee, the Strategic Health Authority and any other interested bodies.

The Forums Annual Report, outlining all the work completed in 2005/6 will be available from June 2006, but if you can't wait till then, get in touch!
