North Tees Primary Care PPI Forum

North Tees Primary Care PPI Forum was set up in December 2003. The Forum currently consists of seven people who bring their own experiences and issues to the forum for discussion.

Many of the Forums meetings are held in public and these are advertised via a press release up to seven days prior to the meeting, in the Evening Gazette newspaper. You can also check the dates of the Public meetings on the Events Calendar on this website.

The Forum commissioned the Stockton International Family Centre to research the mental health of their users due to translation issues when attending appointments at Primary Care services. The Forum has perform monitoring and audit visits to surgeries in the North Tees area. Consultations are also considered to be a high priority of the Forum, e.g. responding to the Acute Services Review consultation, PCT reconfiguration consultation and the Healthcare Commissions Annual Health Check.

The Annual Report for 2005/6 is available on the KMS via the Commissions website (see link page) or alternatively you can contact the office (see front page) to obtain a hard copy of the report. The Annual Report includes the work plan for 2006/7.

For further details of the work of the forums, to become a new forum member or to simply wish for an issue to be discussed at the next forum meeting, please add your details to the Guest Book on this website or contact Age Concern on the contact numbers shown on our main page.

THE FORUM INVESTIGATES!!!

The North Tees Forum has successfully bid for funding from the Commission for Patient & Public Involvement in Health's Development Fund to commission a survey into mental health issues in the Black & Minority Ethnic Community. The Forum has commissioned Stockton International Family Centre to undertake this piece of research for them.

The Forum is concerned with the difficulties faced by BME patients visiting their GP when no translator is available and wider problems this may led to in regard to mental health. Working with the Stockton International Family Centre, the Forum hopes to find appropriate solutions to the issues the survey identify.

The completion date for the research is 31st March 2006 and the report will be distributed to all interested bodies. For more information on this piece of work, or to get a copy of the final report, please contact the Forum Support Office
