South Tees PPI Forum
South Tees PPI Forum was set up in December 2003 and currently consists of 12 people who bring their own experiences and issues to the forum for discussion. Forum representatives attend many other meetings and groups, e.g. Trust Board meetings, Strategic Health Authority meetings, etc. This enables the Forum to raise the issues concerning patients and public to those who are making the changes.
Since the Forum began meeting the members have tackled many differing issues. They have received PALS reports, worked with other forums on waiting times etc, and raised patients concerns with the Trust e.g. concerns raised with Chemotherapy unit. Members have visited the hospital on several occassions for fact finding and monitoring on such issues as renal services, digital hearing aids, and made Disability Access visits. A full account of the work the Forum has completed in 2005/6 and the work they plan to carry out in 2006/7 is available in the Annual Report. An electronic copy of the report can be obtained from the KMS via the Commission website (see link page). Alternatively, a hard copy can be obtained from the FSO office (see front page).
All meetings are held in public, and are relatively informal to allow non-members to participate in discussions. Meetings are advertised publicly, and are often announced on the local BBC Radio station. You can also check the dates of the Public meetings on the Events Calender on this website.
For further details of the work of the forums, to become a new forum member or to simply wish for an issue to be discussed at the next forum meeting, please add your details to the Guest Book on this website or contact Age Concern on the contact numbers shown on our main page.

Hospital Cleanliness & Hospital Acquired Infections Meeting
The Patient & Public Involvment Forum South Tees has been successful in their bid to the Commission's Development Fund to hold a public meeting on Hospital Cleanliness and Hospital Acquired Infections.
The aim of the meeting is to inform the public on the current situation at the NHS Trust, which covers the James Cook University Hospital and the Friarage Hospital, in regards to this issue. The Forum will be presenting on the work they have done so far, and there will be further presentations from Trust staff.
This meeting will take place on Tuesday 29th November 2005, 7pm - 9pm at Middlesbrough Teaching & Learning Centre.
If you wish to attend and need directions to the venue or have any special needs, please leave a message on our guestbook |
South Tees Progress Update
South Tees' meeting on Hospital Cleanliness and Hospital Acquired Infections was a success!!! There were approximately 20 -25 attendees, with presentations from the Trust, and an update on the Forums actions in regards to this issue. There was 30 minutes for questions and answers, and all those who asked questions were left happy with their response. A report on the event will be available ASAP.
The Forum has also been working on issues including Audiology, and Disability Access etc. The Annual Report is due out in June 2006, but if you can't wait that long, get in touch! |
