Hartlepool Primary Care PPI Forum
Hartlepool Primary Care PPI Forum was set up in December 2003, and currently consists of nine people who bring their own experiences and issues to the forum for discussion.
The Forum have already investigated several issues and had speakers from the Hartlepool PCT, and from the Health Scrutiny Committee. The Forum has carried out Monitoring & Audit visits on GP suergeries and pharmacies and attends events throughout Hartlepool to raise awareness of their work. Also, in Winter/Spring 2006 the forum carried out a piece of research into patient access to services via Advance Access appointment systems and the Out of Hours service. The Forums 2005/6 Annual Report, which includes their workplan for 2006/7 has been published and is available on the CPPIH website (see link page). FORUM SURVEY'S PUBLIC
Hartlepool Forum have recieved a sum of money from the Commission for Patient & Public Involvement in Health's Development Fund to survey the people of Hartlepool.
The survey, which is anonymous, will look at two issues that keeps being raised at the Forum meetings: Advance Access, the system for making a GP appointment whereby you ring the surgery on the morning you want the appointment; and the Out of Hours service, the service you contact when you need to see a GP urgently between 6pm and 8am.
