1. New Art form?

Les Hodge pictured at Croft by Dick Fawcett

The last few years have seen the biggest changes in the world of photography since the advent of the SLR. The majority of amateur photographers have followed the lead of the professionals and "gone digital".
The best part of this modern technology is dispatching with the darkroom to be replaced by a comfortable chair in front of a computer. No more aching back or absently swigging from a fixer bottle. On the down side you can't lock a nagging wife out of the room!
Of course, not everyone goes along with change although I don't think you'll find many people still advocating plate negatives. Certainly there are still those who stick to the principle of "whole negative" prints and many swear by black and white prints but the latter can now be done at the press of a button.
Talking of a "press of a button" there are a lot of fun things that you can now do but which can't be called photography although a photograph is the base of this new form of art that isn't everyone's cup of tea!
One of our best photographers (certainly in the realm of sport) is Les Hodge, who doesn't get to the club very often nowadays because of the demand on his time as a freelance photographer. You have seen his work on his own page but now have a look at the result of a bit of tweaking...
