Mayor is Council's Twinning link
 Councillor Mary ovens, Mayor of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council in 2006-2007, currently serves as the President of Redcar & Cleveland Twinning Association during her mayoral year. She continues her support as the Council's official representative on the Twinning Management Committee.

At the AGM in March the following were elected to manage the Redcar& Cleveland Twinning Association:
President: Ann Franklin
Chairman: Paul Lawrence
Vice-Chairman:
Treasurer: Denis Bell
Minute Secretary: Margaret Jackson
Committee Members: Kim Arnold, Alison Dodds, Brian Gent, Brenda Kendall, Peter Sotheran, Phyllis Walker.

Former Chairman closes his dictionary!
Peter Sotheran has served on the Management Committee since the Twinning Association was formed in 1990. For ten of those years, he served as Chairman or Vice-Chairman or Secretary. On completion of his recent term of office as Chairman, Peter declared that he would not be offering himself for an officer's post in the future.
"It has been a really rewarding experience, sharing in the excitement of the visits and seeing the smiles on the faces of the participants," said Peter. "I have many wonderful friends in Troisdorf and I shall miss them."
Now retired from work, Peter remains on the committee and plans to divide his leisure time between his other voluntary work as a magistrate and a Trustee of Sir William Turner's Almshouses.
