Richmond & Catterick Darts League Rules 2008-2009

1. The League to be managed by a committee, elected each year at the League's Annual General Meeting.
1. a) Teams that are not present for Roll Call at the League's Annual General Meeting (unless they
have contacted the Secretary before the Meeting) are to be excluded from the League until the next AGM.

2. Games to be played on a treble board, measuring 5ft 8 ins from the centre of the bull to the floor directly below the board.
Throw to be 7 ft 9 1/4 ins along the floor, measured from directly below the board to a point on the floor to be marked each league and cup game by the placing of a raised oche.
All boards to be in good condition, with the doubles, trebles and numbers clearly visible.
Team Captain is responsible for the correct positioning of the board, and for checking that
the board is in good condition.

3. a) All teams in league games to consist of at least 8, and no more than 12, playing members, all of whom should be named on the Results Card.
b) The Captain, or Vice Captain, whether playing in the league or nominated games or not, must play the Captain's Game.
c) All teams in K.O. Cup games to consist of no more than 9 playing members.

4. All League singles games will be best of 3, 501 up, straight off and finish on a double. All other games, including K.O. Cup games to be 501 up, start and finish on a double.
In League and K.O. Cup games, the Captains will toss a coin to decide, before the draw is made, the winner getting the choice of going first in the odd or even numbered games. In League singles
games, the person who has the off in the 1st game will go straight off, the other player going for
first in the 2nd game; if a 3rd game is needed, the player who went off first in the 1st game will again have the off. In K.O. Cup games, Doubles & Nominated games, the person who has the off will go for double off.
The Captain's Game will be played as one game, double start, with the away Captain going first. Doubles and Nominated are to be treated as Games 9 & 10, with the off going to the appropriate team, as drawn at the beginning of the match.
a) Once the draw is made, and recorded on the Results Card, if all players are present, the card must not be altered, except as provided for by Rule 9b). When the draw is made, any byes must
remain in the order drawn - no adjustments may be made to the order for either team.
b) For all competitions, except the K.O.Cup, a draw will be made on the night.

5. Points to be awarded in league games will be
Three points for a win, one point for a draw, none for a defeat.
In K.O. Cup games, the first team to win 5 games wins the match.

6. a) Registration Date for the League this season will 28th November 2008. By this date, all teams must complete and return their Registration Form, with their list of up to 20 players (including Landlord/Steward), to the Secretary.
After this date, no teams will be permitted to sign any new players. If you have played for one team, you can't join another. Each team may include on their list of 20 players up to 4 women.
Any team that fails to return their Registration List by the stated deadline shall be fined four
points.
b) A player wishing to play in any of the competitions run by this League, including the K.O. Cup, must have played at least one league game for his team before the Cup competition begins,(including doubles, nominated singles and Captain's games), and must have been named on the
relevant Results Card.
c) In the Landlords & the Registered Pairs competitions, players in each threesome/pair must be from the same League team.

7. Should a team be found to have played an un-registered or un-qualified player in a league
or Cup game, the following sanctions will be applied:-
League game : lose 3 points
K.O. Cup game : forfeit Cup game to opponents.

8. Any player from the RICHMOND & CATTERICK DARTS LEAGUE may not play in any other League on the same night, be they summer or winter, league or cup games.

9. a) The draw for every league or K.O. Cup match must be made by 8.30 p.m. on the night, with the first game being played as soon as possible after the draw is made.
b) All games must follow the order as drawn, except when mutually agreed by the two Captains. If a player is not present for his game, then a substitute must play in his place, or the game will be forfeited; each team is only allowed one substitute.
c) No darts are to be removed from the board once a game is underway, until after each score is checked and called by the person marking the game.

10. a) The Doubles Cup game to be played after the league game, between one pair of players from each team under normal match rules.
b) The Nominated Singles Cup game to be played after the Doubles game, between one
player from each team; this game to start on the first double nominated by each player - they cannot change this double! Normal match rules apply after this.
No player can play in both the Doubles and the Nominated games on the same night.
c) The Captain's game to be played after the Nominated game, between the respective captains (or Vice Captains) on the night, as a normal league game.

11. Any team failing to fulfil a fixture will forfeit the match, and associated competitions. The only exception to this will be cancellation due to inclement weather, when teams must notify the opposition by 7.30 p.m. at the latest. The present ruling as to rearranging the fixture will still apply.
Any game cancelled, for this reason, must be brought to the attention of the Secretary as soon as possible, and then rearranged within three weeks. If this cannot be done, then the Committee will meet to decide the result of the game.

12. In the event of a tie at the top of the League, or where promotion or relegation places are involved, when the season ends, a Play-off will be played between the teams concerned; a neutral venue will be chosen, the game being played as a straight knockout, with 9 players on each side. (A tie will occur if teams are level on points and on wins)
a) There will be a system of promotion and relegation between the divisions, 2 going up and 2 going down.

13. All Results Cards must be filled in correctly, and signed. The Card must be posted, delivered or sent by e-mail to the Secretary, to arrive no later than the Wednesday following each game. If the result is e-mailed, all details from the card must be included, and the Home Captain will be responsible for keeping the card, as evidence, until at least the end of the season.
The Home Team Captain will be held responsible for the Results Card, so if the Card does not
arrive, his team may be penalised; any team that fails to present a Results Card, or presents a Card that is incorrectly filled in, will be fined 8 points in the case of a league match, or forfeit the Cup match.
In addition, if the result of the Doubles, Nominated or Captain's game is not included on the Results Card, then neither team will receive a point for that competition.
a). Late Results Cards will incur the following penalties:- 1st late card will result in a warning [printed on the next Results Sheet, and sent in a letter to the Team Captain concerned]; subsequent late cards will incur a four point penalty on the first occasion; this penalty will rise to six, then eight points for continuing offenders.
b). All Competition fees must be paid on to the Treasurer (or Secretary) within one week of the Competition date. Failure to do so will result in a £10 fine for the team responsible (i.e. the team whose venue was used for the Competition)); that venue will not then be used for the following season's competitions.

14. The loss of these Rules is not an excuse to infringe them.

15. The Committee's rulings on all points are final, as agreed at the Annual General Meeting.
