Welcome to Richmond Branch, Royal Scottish Country Dance Society
 | The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society has Branches throughout the UK and worldwide.
At Richmond in North Yorkshire there is a very active, albeit fairly small, Branch. We have a variety of classes to suit different needs. Every season from September to April we hold weekly mixed ability classes taken by our four teachers. We have monthly Sunday afternoon classes from October to March taken by visiting teachers from surrounding Branches in which dancers try out more challenging dances and polish their steps. In the summer we hold classes to prepare our dancers for the White Rose Festival in Leeds. When the Society produces a new book of dances we have a special class to familiarise dancers with the new dances. Finally, we usually hold a Day School with a visiting teacher, in the Spring in alternate years. Apart from classes, we also arrange socials on a monthly basis from September to April with recorded music and dances in April and October with live music. |

Dancing classes
 Classes are held every Wednesday evening in The Booth Memorial Hall, Catterick Village from September to April, from 7.30 - 9.30 pm. All are welcome from beginners to experts. Please see calendar for details.
On Sunday afternoons, from October to March from 2.30 - 4.30pm, we hold classes which are a little more challenging, either in Cleasby Village Hall,near Darlington or in the Booth Memorial Hall in Catterick Village. There will be classes in October, November and December 2011 taken by Catherine Livsey from Leeds Branch, and in January, February and March 2012 taken by Catrina Thomson-O'Connor from Newcastle Branch. Classes will also be held in June/July 2012 to prepare for the White Rose Festival in Leeds in July. Full details of all these classes can be found in the calendar.

Socials
Monthly Socials will be held on the first Friday in the month in the Town Hall, Richmond from September 2011 to March 2012. The exception is November 2011 when the social is on the second Friday. We dance to recorded music from 7.30 to 10.00pm. Social programmes are prepared and recapped by members of the Branch. See calendar for full details.
All are welcome and dances on the programme are usually popular and well known in Scottish Country Dancing circles.

Special events
Dances are held in April and October in Richmond School dancing to live music. Tickets can be obtained from Jan Robinson, Tel 01748 884786 or e mail on mail@janandgeoff.plus,com Crib sheets are available with the tickets and brief verbal recaps are given for most dances. On October 15th 2011 Marian Anderson and her Band will be playing for our dance and on April 21st 2012 Gary Donaldson and his Band will be playing for our 60th Anniversary Ball.
In the Summer we hold an outdoor social, weather permitting! The venue is Applegarth in Reeth -please ring Jan Robinson on 01748 884786 for further details or e mail on mail@janandgeoff.plus.com If wet the event is held in Reeth Memorial Hall. The date in 2012 will be Saturday 30th June and the music will be recorded.
There will not be a Day school in 2012.
