Richmondshire Volunteer Community Car Transport Scheme.....

This is a volunteer operated community car scheme originally set-up by the RCVS but which is now operated through one of our associated agencies.., Stokesley Community Care Association (SCCA).
RCVS still supports and recruits volunteer car drivers across Richmondshire.
The aim is to provide access to a volunteer sourced car transport option which offsets access to health services problems such as age, infirmity inability to drive, rural or isolated location, etc.

Typical requests include journeys to and from hospital outpatients, as well as doctor and dentist appointments.

There is a charge of 45pence per mile, to cover the drivers car and fuel expenses, although there is no charge for any waiting time.

We can send you out one of our information leaflets which gives more details together with information on the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust's own non-emergency 'Patient Transport Service' and in particular its eligibility criteria.

If you would like to find out more then please give John a call on 01748-822537 or please email john.rcvs@virgin.net.

To find out if you can access the Volunteer Car Scheme or to book journeys originating in Richmondshire please call SCCA on 01642-710190.

Volunteers Welcomed....

We welcome new volunteer drivers..., as we can always do with more people registered with us to help continue this important local support service.

You may have some time to spare or even know someone who could help as a volunteer driver.. giving an hour or two every now and then can make all the difference...!

Volunteering can be very rewarding...
- you can meet new and interesting people
- help provide a transport option for people in your local community
- assist with access to vital services i.e. hospitals, doctor or dental appointments
- transport people for much needed respite care or to visit relatives

All volunteer drivers are CRB checked and mileage costs are paid by the user or agency.
The RCVS provides support and training (where applicable) for its valued volunteers.

Why not get in touch, ask for more details or even call into our offices in Richmond where we will be happy to help or advise.

Call John on 01748-822537 or email me at john.rcvs@virgin.net
