Rockliffe Park Cricket Club of the
Darlington & District Cricket League.
Held it's 7th Annual Sportsman's Evening
On Thursday 22nd September 2005, at the magnificent home of Darlington FC.
180 guests attended and in the salubrious surroundings of the Ron Greener suite were treated to an evening of top class food and
entertainment.
Former England and Hampshire cricketer Robin Smith told stories of his career and comedian Venn Tracey raised many laughs with his unique humour.
The prize auction containing cricket and football memorabilia, generated great interest in particular a bat signed by Shane Warne.
Earlier in the evening, Club President Mr Percy Abbott paid a warm tribute to Mr Rod Burtt who had earlier in the year lost his battle against cancer.
Rod had been the MC and one of the organisers of the event since it's inception in 1999.
Good friend Alan Cowie took over Rod's duties. |
