Where it all started from in 1961

Ryhope Allstars was founded in 1961 by Mrs Nan Self, her brother started a band up in Silksworth and after watching what he was achiving with his band, decided to get help to start another band up but in Ryhope. The band has gone from strenght to strenght and seen may generations of familys come and go over the years, the full intention of the band was to give the kids somthing to do other than play on street corners. Sadly Nan died but the band has still gone on and is a living memory of what she started up all those years ago. The band is still going strong and looking forward to many more years.
