Saint Andrews Church
St Andrew’s church is in the centre of Sadberge village and at the heart of community life. As a village church, our aim, above all, is to be open to all the community. Our services are therefore classically Anglican in style, and seek to meet the needs of all who wish to come.

Historic Sadberge - Church's Secrets Uncovered
 | The Village Church (St Andrew's) occupies the highest ground in the village, surrounded by roads and streets it is the most beautiful of the focal points within the village.
On the East-side of the Church there is a visual reminder of the moat that was once present and was possibly trenched round.
The present church was built in 1831, at which date there was an old Norman Church of 1266 still standing, about six yards away to the south.
The Chapel consists of a low Nave and Chancel, it has evidently been in a great measure built out of the old squared stones of the goal or manor-house.There are monumental inscriptions in the Church-Yard for the families of Pemberton and Garmonsway. The Parochial Register begins in 1662 "The Hon.Lady Brown", who was baptised in this Chapel on 7th August 1670 in memory where of she gave a pulpit cloth and cushion of Red Shagg in the year 1725.
This Chapel runs parallel to the ancient Roman Road (Ryknield Street), now known as Hill-House Lane.
(As Can be seen from photographs throughout the website)
This old building was given away to the builder of the new one, together with £10, on the condition that he had it removed.
He used the materials in Darlington to make an embankment along the Skerne from Crown Street to the STONE BRIDGE, and the kitchen of an Inn in Priestgate.
